Few places in Plovdiv can compare with Hebros Hotel for its authenticity, hospitality and location. Occupying a pair of painstakingly restored Ottoman merchant homes with a shared courtyard in the middle of old Plovdiv , Hebros is exclusively furnished with period antiques and a staff that is efficient and as distinguished as the surroundings. The only concessions made to modernity are the well-appointed and functional bathrooms. Ask for the courtyard room in the adjoining building on the ground floor where the luxurious, wood-floored bathroom is hidden behind two sets of painted doors that appear to be a built-in wardrobe at first glance.
On top of everything, Hebros also houses one of ’s best restaurants. So even if you can’t get a room in this often-booked hotel, do try to spend an evening dining in the cozy courtyard or the more elegant formal dining room complete with fireplace and grand piano – at the time of writing, the only member of the “Slow Food” movement in Bulgaria.
