Behind the two-meter high stonewall, in the heart of the quiet sub-Balkan town of Kalofer, one could enjoy the hospitality of the hosts of the Tsutsova House. Built some years before the Bulgarian Liberation (1878), the house is cuddled in the rich green of the garden like a memory from the past. Shortly after being finished, it was burnt down by the Otomans who set the town on fire, but the owners built it up again. Nowadays, the hosts welcome their guests with a glass of mellow wine and homemade rose brandy served under the vine-trellis.
The building was officially declared a monument of culture in 1964. It has preserved the town’s spirit of the Bulgarian National Revival until our days. Refurbished and renewed in 1990, the house offers all the comfort of a contemporary home. It has 5 rooms and could accommodate up to 12 people.
The tavern offers delicious meals and typical local dishes. The kitchen is equipped with a fireplace, a barbeque, and a stone oven for those who would like to try their culinary skills.
The Tsutsova House offers car transfers and a convenient parking place for its guests. They also could enjoy their vacation together with their pets. The place provides services like ironing, laundry, dry cleaning, and use of computer.
The hosts arrange local guides for those who want to see the beautiful nature of the Central Balkan near Kalofer. There are many options for one or two day hiking/walking trips, horseback riding, off-road, or picnics. And the nature has a lot to offer there – the Central Balkan National Park, the tourist trails that tempt with their spectacular views from the South Djandem Reserve and the Raysko Praskalo Waterfall, the murmur of the crystal clear waters of the White River and the Tundja River. Kalofer is also a starting point of the route to Rai Mountain Chalet and Botev Vrah, the highest peak in the Stara Planina Mountain.
Among the town landmarks are the Kalofer Monastery (1600) and the Convent (1700), the House-museum of Hristo Botev, and the Museum of Education which is hosted by one of the first schools in Bulgaria.
